Scott Dreyer is Founder and Executive Chairman of Compass Point and is responsible for the strategic direction of the firm. Under his leadership, the firm has emerged as a leading investment bank known for its expertise in investment banking and equity research. He plays an active role in many of the firm’s largest client relationships.
Prior to founding Compass Point, Mr. Dreyer had a successful career as an institutional Wall Street trader. Mr. Dreyer spent 13 years at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co., Inc., where he established and managed the firm’s trading operations. Prior to joining FBR, Mr. Dreyer spent 10 years with Johnston, Lemon & Co., as a position trader and managed the firm’s trading activities from 1987-1989. Mr. Dreyer began his career on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.
Mr. Dreyer received a B.S in Finance from the University of Oklahoma and his M.B.A from The George Washington University.
Burke Hayes is Chief Executive Officer and Head of Investment Banking at Compass Point. Since joining Compass Point in 2011, Mr. Hayes has been responsible for the oversight, management and strategic direction of the firm’s investment banking and advisory practice.
Mr. Hayes joined Compass Point from FBR Capital Markets, where he spent more than 10 years in its Investment Banking group, successfully completing more than $4 billion in capital markets transactions. Mr. Hayes was most recently Managing Director in their Investment Banking group focusing on Specialty Finance and Real Estate.
Mr. Hayes received his B.A. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
Christopher Nealon is President and Chief Operating Officer of Compass Point. Mr. Nealon oversees the administrative and operational areas of the firm, including accounting, compliance, facilities, human resources, operations and technology.
Mr. Nealon joined Compass Point in 2012, after spending 17 years at FBR Capital Markets, where he was Managing Director, Head of Operations. At FBR, Mr. Nealon was responsible for overseeing the firm’s broker-dealer operations. Previously, Mr. Nealon held various operational roles at Alex Brown and Bear Stearns.
Mr. Nealon received his B.S. in Banking & Finance from Hofstra University.
Tom Pitcher is Head of Institutional Sales at Compass Point. He is responsible for managing the firm’s specialized equities sales team and has been an integral part Compass Point’s growth.
Prior to joining Compass Point in 2016, he spent 8 years at Height Securities in Washington, D.C. where he worked with institutional asset managers across regulatory analysis and capital raising. He began his securities career at FBR Capital Markets in their institutional sales division.
Mr. Pitcher received his B.A. in English Language and Literature from Brown University.
Senior Management
Matthew Anstey serves as Managing Director of Investment Banking at Compass Point. Mr. Anstey has over 15 years of investment banking and capital markets experience advising growth companies across multiple sectors including digital asset, fintech and financial services. He has completed over 200 transactions including public and private offerings, M&A and advisory assignments.
Prior to joining Compass Point is 2013, Mr. Anstey worked in various capacities in structured finance, valuation and credit analysis at Headwaters, Cohen Reznick, KPMG and United Bank.
Mr. Anstey received both his B.A. and M.B.A in finance from West Virginia University and is a CFA charterholder.
Michael Kiernan is Research Chief Operating Officer at Compass Point. Mike is responsible for the coordination of all research and policy offerings of the firm and brings over 35 years of both sell-side and buy-side experience to the role.
Mr. Kiernan joined Compass Point in January 2024 from B. Riley. Previously Mr. Kiernan served as Director of Research at both Rosenblatt Securities and Wolfe Research. Prior to Wolfe, Mr. Kiernan held research product roles at Brean Capital, Canaccord Genuity, Lazard Capital Markets and Bear Stearns. Mr. Kiernan began his Wall Street career at UBS Global Asset Management where he co-managed a mid-cap growth portfolio.
Mr. Kiernan received his B.A. in economics from Rutgers University and a M.B.A. in finance from Fordham University.
Maxwell Reale is Director of Washington Policy and Senior Policy Analyst at Compass Point. He is responsible for the firm’s policy-driven research and advisory services, and covers healthcare, macro events, special situations and tax policy.
Prior to joining Compass Point, Mr. Reale led the healthcare group at Capstone DC advising institutional investors and corporations on the outlook and impact of policy developments. He gained notoriety for his leading coverage of significant healthcare developments. Concurrently, Mr. Reale also led Capstone’s Macro policy research effort, creating and coordinating firmwide strategic views across all verticals. Prior to Capstone, Mr. Reale served as a restructuring advisor at Grant Thorton.
Mr. Reale received a B.S. in Finance from Tulane University and a M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina.
Matthew Rogers is Head of Equity Trading at Compass Point. Mr. Rogers joined Compass Point in May 2023 and brings over 25 years of experience in equities trading.
Mr. Rogers joined Compass Point from Height Capital Markets where he served as Director of Sales and Trading. In addition to his oversight of trading operations, he also acted in a hybrid role of Research Sales and Desk Analyst, providing daily commentary to institutional accounts. Prior to Height, he was an Equity Trader at FBR Capital Markets covering the energy sector. Previously he was an Equity Trader at J.P. Morgan Securities, and he began his equities trading career at Hambrecht & Quist.
Mr. Rogers received a B.S. in Economics from Middlebury College
Ken Slosser is a Managing Director, Investment Banking at Compass Point. Mr. Slosser is a veteran investment banker with over 25 years’ experience building and leading investment banking practices. During his distinguished career, he completed capital raising and advisory assignments totaling more than $50 billion in transaction value.
Prior to joining Compass Point in 2022, Mr. Slosser was a Managing Director and Co-Group Head of the Permanent Capital group at Jefferies. Previously he was Executive Vice President and Head of Investment Banking at FBR Capital Markets where he was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, and Co-Head of the Commitment Committee. Mr. Slosser began his career with the Office of Thrift Supervision.
Mr. Slosser received his B.S. in Economics & Political Science from Willamette University.
